Households group members who belong to the same family or home. Use them to see related members together, assign a head of household, and manage household check-in QR codes when portal access is enabled.
Who can do this: Org Owner, Org Admin, Branch Admin, and Editor can create and edit households. Org Owner, Org Admin, and Branch Admin can delete households and regenerate household QR codes.
Create a household
Open Households
In the sidebar, click Households.
Start a household
Click Add Household.
Enter a name
Enter Household Name. The name must be unique within the branch.
Create the household
Click Create Household.
Org-scoped users select a branch before creating or viewing households.
Find a household
Use the search field to search by household name. The household list shows:
- Household Name
- Head of Household
- Members
- Created
Click a household name to open the household detail page.
Add members
Open the household
From Households, click the household name.
Add a member
Click Add Member.
Search and select
Search for a member in the same branch and select them.
Confirm
Add the member to the household.
If the member already belongs to another household, Bethel ChMS moves them to the selected household. If this is the first member in the household, Bethel ChMS sets them as the head of household automatically.
Set the head of household
The head of household appears in the household list and receives a Head badge in the roster.
- Open the household.
- Find the member in the Members table.
- Click Set as Head.
- Confirm the change.
Only one member can be the head of a household. Setting a new head removes the head status from the previous person.
Remove a member
Removing a member clears their household link. It does not delete the member record or affect attendance history.
- Open the household.
- Find the member in the Members table.
- Click Remove.
- Confirm the removal.
Edit or delete a household
Use the row Actions menu in the household list to edit or delete a household.
Deleting a household soft-deletes the household and removes the household link from all members in it. It also clears any head-of-household flag for those members.
Household QR codes
When portal access is enabled for your organisation, the household detail page shows QR Code. Use it with kiosk check-in to check in household members together.
Org Owner, Org Admin, and Branch Admin can click Regenerate QR to rotate the household QR token. Bethel ChMS sends the new household QR code to household members who have an email address.
After you regenerate a household QR code, the previous code no longer works.
In kiosk mode, select Scan QR and scan the household QR code. Bethel ChMS shows [Household name] — Who’s here today?. Select each household member who is present, then click Check In. Members who are already checked in are shown as already checked in and cannot be selected again.
